Understanding UV Index
The UV Index is an international standard measurement of the strength of sunburn-producing ultraviolet radiation at a particular place and time. The scale ranges from 1 (Low) to 11+ (Extreme).
Protection Tiers
- 0-2 (Low): Minimal danger. Wear sunglasses on bright days.
- 3-5 (Moderate): Take precautions. Cover up and use sunscreen.
- 6-7 (High): Protections needed. Seek shade during midday hours.
- 8-10 (Very High): Extra precautions needed. Unprotected skin can damage quickly.
- 11+ (Extreme): Take all precautions. Avoid sun exposure between 10am and 4pm.
